AEGIS ASIA successfully complete bio decontamination work and Aegis Microbe Shield treatment in Sultan Ismail Hospital
A two month newly open Hospital Sultan Ismail was ordered to be shut down by Ministry of Health because of deadly fungus infestation. The areas of the microbial contamination were widespread in the entire hospital 10 storey building which had 704 bed and 3004 rooms. The level of microbial activity was so high in some places, that a few minutes of exposure is enough to make you really sick or trigger flu like symptoms. Species like Aspergillus and Penicillium dominated the hospital environment.

Reducing Microbial contamination in hospital blanket.

A independent before and after air sampling test validates AEGIS Microbe Shield treatment efficacy in a Malaysian Hospital paediatric wards even after 6 month
After over five years of planning and construction, two months old newly open Hospital Sultan Ismail was infested with deadly fungus (Aspergillus fumigatus). A focused environmental investigation of microbial growth within the building followed, revealing moderate to high levels of fungi on interior surfaces and air sampling results showed >1000CFU/m3 in most areas . All visibly colonized materials in the building were discarded and all fine dust on interior surfaces was removed by vacuuming and/or damp wiping. A long-active organosilicon antimicrobial (ÆGIS™), 3- trimethoxysilylpropyldimethyloctadecyl ammonium chloride was selected to treat all surfaces throughout reconstruction. Re-evaluation of the facility at 6 months following restoration showed significant reduction in airborne fungi.

AEGIS treatment on carpets- "Effectiveness and durability in field and laboratory testing."
The antimicrobial activity of the ÆGIS Microbe Shield® was evaluated for the effectiveness and durability on different nylon carpets installed in 11 patient rooms at Barnes Hospital at the Washington University Medical Centre. Each of the samples was then challenged with different odor and stain causing live-organism. The study indicates that the broad spectrum of activity exhibited by the ÆGIS Microbe Shield.

Antimicrobial Treatment on Medical nonwovens - A case study.
Nonwovens can "harbor" and act as a most ideal environments for medically significant microorganisms. The treated Fabric kills the bacteria commonly associated with surgical wound infections and takes an active role in maintaining an aseptic field at the wound site. Antimicrobial is only sold as a concentrate in solvent. For application, ÆGIS Antimicrobial is diluted with water. The hydrolyzed material in the dilute solution then covalently or ionically bonds with the target surface and covalently bonds with itself to form a durable copolymer.

A COMPARISON OF ANTIMICROBIALS FOR THE TEXTILE INDUSTRY
Antimicrobials are used on textiles to control bacteria, fungi, mold, mildew, and algae and the problems of deterioration, staining, odors, and health concerns that they cause. Control strategies of the organisms must include consideration of being sure that adaptation of microorganisms is not encouraged. The conventional leaching types of antimicrobials leave the textile and chemically enter or react with the microorganism acting as a poison. The continuous exposure of the microbe to a sub lethal dose of an antimicrobial can cause mutation and that are no longer affected by the chemical.
